  1. Hello to Germany,

just a short question – did you set up the Arduino Environment as described in the setup manual (you con download it here)?

There is a folder called “ArduinoSDK-AddOn” contained in the CineMoco download where you will find the manual as well as all needed files.

  2. Hi, Airic!
I have setup with UNO, your miniE shield and DFRobot LCD v1.1 …
But my “Select” key wont work… alas I can manuver in the menu but not set anything… Is there anything I need to fine tune for button press reading to work or is it maybe a broken button?

    • Hi again!
I found the answer myself! I needed to fine-tune the mE_Keys sketch
“#define key_x_value” numbers to match the voltage dividers for the keys. So now it works great.
I´m also using the Big Easy Stepper board and a 1.68A stepper motor with 5.18:1 planetary gear box = 16,5Kg/cm torque! Thats going to drag my rig around pretty easy! 😉
Thanks for a great miniE shield, Airic!
I cant wait for your next version to come!

  3. Is it possible to use to use the miniEngine, so that the motor is continous powering without the steps between? Because I am a filmmaker and i want to use this to let the slider move from one end to the other in only some seconds without the steps in between.

    • Hello Lukas,

yes it is possible. Currently the continuous mode does exactly that. You can define the distance to be moved, the total-time it should take as well as the ramping into, as well as out of the move (in percent of the total time the move takes). This Continuous mode is originally for time-lapse but it moves the dolly in a smooth way, so perfect for what you want.

Later on there will be a dedicated video mode as well as more complex moves via key-frames. The motor-control engine is already key-frame based but there is no user interface for editing them yet 😉

  4. Hi.
Just found your project and I am about to dig in!
I would like to build a controller for both time-lapse and video.
Keeping thing simple I would like to start with the miniEngine1. Is this still supported or all the attention is on miniengine2?
Will the mini engine 1 be enough for my needs? (Video and time-lapse)
Do I need the shield or I can get away with connecting the easy driver to Arduino directly?
    Sorry for all the questions.
This is a great project. Well done!

    • Hello Philip,

the miniEngine 1 is still supported. If you want to do video though, I recommend the miniEngine 2 as the original version is not capable of doing steady and smooth video moves. In both cases you’ll need a shield. Everything you need is available in the shop.

  6. hello
And you can upgrade mini V1 to work with the arduino IDE 1.6.13
thanks you very much !! 😉
